I think about how similar silicon baised life could be to robots and since we havent found silicon baised life when we do its possible we would just call them robots.
Thats just one exsample with tech we understand let alone a alien civ 20 times more advanced than us operating in ways we wouldnt even notice.

Now the opportunity cost is significant AND the looming dislocations from food and energy shortages globally and going to screw up profit margins for several years. Prepare for more pain.

Who knows, might lead to the depression WIAH talked about. While resource prices might be bad in the US, they're much worse in the rest of the world. I think the global effects will wash back up on our shores
